Are you thinking about installing a custom fish tank in your Suffolk County business? There are several different types of marine habitats to consider that a reputable and experienced East Northport, NY custom fish tank specialist will be able to design, install, and maintain. The type that will best suit your needs depends on several factors, such as your personal preferences, your goals, and your budget.
To help you decide which option to choose for your Suffolk County business, let’s take a look at some of the different kinds of aquariums.
Cold Water
The easiest and most basic type of aquarium, in terms of installation and maintenance, is the cold water tank. If you’re a novice, this is a great choice, as it doesn’t require special equipment and it’s easy to care for. It’s also the most affordably priced. While it may be the most basic type of aquarium, a cold water tank can be quite lively and interesting; especially when it’s designed and installed by a reputable and experienced East Northport, NY custom fish tank specialist.
Tanks of varying shapes, sizes, and styles can be used, and there are an assortment of decorative elements that can be incorporated. Additionally, there are many different species of freshwater flora and fauna. Barbs, tetra, hillstream loach, danio, Paradise fish, and even certain varieties of shrimp, as well as goldfish, of course, are just some of the different types of fish that will make a cold water tank come alive.

Tropical Freshwater
Tropical freshwater aquariums are among the most popular types of aquatic displays. Though it is a bit more involved and costly to set up, and they do require more care than cold water tanks, a tropical freshwater marine habitat is still a great option.
This type of aquarium contains warmer water, and as such, it does require special equipment, such as heaters to achieve the proper temperature for the aquatic life that lives in this habitat. Additionally, it does require a bit more care in order to maintain the temperature, as well as the pH levels. Still, a tropical freshwater aquarium is relatively easy to maintain on your own, or, if your East Northport, NY custom fish tank designer offers maintenance plans, you could arrange for them to take care of the tank for you.
Saltwater
If you’d like a more extravagant aquarium for your Suffolk County business, a saltwater (also known as a “marine”) tank might be the right choice for you. As the name suggests, these tanks are designed to support marine animals that would live in the ocean. There are several different types of saltwater aquariums, including:
While saltwater tanks are stunning, the setup and upkeep is complex, and they tend to be more costly to install and maintain. With that said, however, if your East Northport, NY custom fish tank contractor offers maintenance services, you can arrange to have them care for the tank for you.
East Northport is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Huntington in Suffolk County, New York, United States. The population was 20,217 at the 2010 census.
Soon after the establishment of a village in the Huntington area, English settlers sought to further expand their territory. On July 30, 1656, land was purchased from Chief Asharoken, head of the Matinecocks Native American tribe, part of which consisted of the land that is today known as East Northport.
Two distinct communities formed in the area now known as East Northport. The more populous settlement known as Larkfield was located on the northern side, near Vernon Valley (now part of Northport). Larkfield originally developed near the location of Genola Cemetery, just north of the modern-day junction of Larkfield Road, Vernon Valley Road, and Laurel Road. A second community located on the southern side was known as Clay Pitts, named for its vast deposits of red clay. This clay which had been used by Native Americans to form pottery was used by the Europeans to form bricks for construction. The land between Larkfield and Clay Pitts was well suited for agriculture, and the region prospered in the late 18th century as a thriving farming community by supplying produce to markets in New York City and Brooklyn.
In 1868 the Long Island Rail Road opened a station within the village of Northport. However, just a few years later the LIRR decided to move the Northport station to a new location in Larkfield to facilitate further railway extension to Port Jefferson. The new railway station located at Larkfield Road and Bellerose Avenue opened on January 13, 1873. Although the station retained the name of Northport, train conductors would refer to it as “East of Northport”, because the station was located east of the railway junction which used to direct trains north to the old station located in the village of Northport. Despite the fact that East Northport is primarily south of Northport, the area became known thereafter as East Northport. The Larkfield Post Office formally changed its name to East Northport in 1910. The East Northport, New York post office building was renamed the Jerome Anthony Ambro, Jr. Post Office Building in 1998.
Learn more about East Northport. The cost of a display aquarium varies depending on the material you choose, the size and shape of the tank, and more. A wide range of costs is about $750 to $7000. Costs increase with the size and height of the tank.
The best tanks are always large rectangular ones. Fish will live longer and healthier lives if they have plenty of water to swim in.
The cost of manufacturing and transporting acrylic is less than that of glass. However, a glass aquarium is still cheaper than an acrylic aquarium. The most popular aquariums are made of glass.
Most fish require room to move laterally (side-to-side), which is highly restricted by tall, narrow tanks. A tall aquarium leaves very little open space when plants and other decorations are added. Therefore, longer tanks are much better than taller tanks.
