Key Questions to Ask Your Old Bethpage, NY Custom Aquarium Designer

Are you looking to install a fish tank in your Nassau County home or business? Do you want something more elaborate and grander than a run-of-the-mill, prefabricated tank on a stand? If so, then you should consider hiring a professional custom aquarium designer.

A reputable, experienced Old Bethpage, NY custom aquarium specialist can design, build, and install an aquatic display that will be completely customized to your preferences. You’ll be able to select the size, the shape, and the overall layout of the aquarium, as well as the habitat, including the type of system (saltwater or freshwater), and the marina flora and fauna that inhabits it. In other words, when you hire a designer to create a custom aquarium for your Nassau County home or business, you can literally make your dream underwater world a reality. To ensure the best possible results, however, making sure that you hire the right company is imperative. In order to do that, you should interview a few different candidates.

The following are some suggested questions to ask when you’re interviewing prospective Old Bethpage, NY custom aquarium services.

Are you experienced with aquariums?

The answer to this question might seem obvious; however, it’s surprising how many home designers advertise that they are aquarium designers, but in reality, they have little – if any – experience. For the best results, you want to hire a professional that specializes in aquarium design. A reputable Old Bethpage, NY custom aquarium contractor will have years of experience designing, building, installing, and maintaining aquatic displays. They will have the knowledge, skill, and experience that’s required to handle the intricate complexities that not only go into designing, but constructing, installing, and maintaining a custom aquarium.

What kind of equipment do you use?

It’s also important to find out what type of equipment each company uses. When it comes to storing a tank that holds thousands of gallons of water and delicate aquatic life in your Nassau County home or office, you definitely don’t want to make the mistake of hiring someone who uses cheap, poorly-constructed materials; otherwise, you could end up in serious trouble. The tank could crack or the seams could split, which could result in a leak or a complete system failure that could flood your property. The filtration system could have chronic issues, such as poor water quality, severe algae growth, and worst of all, the health of the flora and fauna could suffer. For beautiful, worry-free, long-lasting results, you want to hire a reputable Old Bethpage, NY custom aquarium service that will use state-of-the-art equipment and durable materials in the construction and installation of your tank.

Do you have a portfolio of aquariums you have designed and installed?

It’s also a good idea to ask each candidate if they can provide a portfolio of projects they have completed. By seeing visual images of the aquatic displays they’ve created, you’ll be able to gauge the quality of their work and whether or not they have designed and installed systems that are similar to the display that you’re envisioning for your Nassau County home or business. To illustrate, if you’re interested in a commercial-sized tank or you’d like something that’s really unusual, but the contractor only has experience with small- and medium-sized or standard setups, then there’s a good chance they aren’t going to be able to create the idea you have in mind. When it comes to the design and installation of a marine habitat, do you really want to leave anything to chance? A credible Old Bethpage, NY will provide you with a collection of either printed or digital images and/or videos of their work.

Do you have references I can contact?

Finally, you should ask each of the candidates you speak with if they can provide you with a list of references. You can tell a lot about any professional – including custom aquarium contractors – from their past clients. Don’t be afraid to reach out to a few of those references to ask some pertinent questions; for example, inquire about the quality of the contractor’s workmanship, whether or not they were satisfied with the results, and if they would recommend using the service. If any of the contractors that you speak with don’t honor your request for references, or they do but you can’t seem to get in touch with any of them, consider those red flags and cross them off your list. A reputable Old Bethpage, NY custom aquarium designer will be more than happy to provide a list of references that will include customers whom you can easily get in touch with.

Old Bethpage is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) located on Long Island in the Town of Oyster Bay, Nassau County, New York, United States. The population of the CDP was 5,523 at the 2010 census. It is served by the Old Bethpage Post Office, ZIP code 11804.

In 1695, Thomas Powell bought about 10,000 acres (40 km2) from local Indian tribes, including the Marsapeque, Matinecoc, and Sacatogue, for 140 English pounds. This land, which includes present day Bethpage, East Farmingdale, Farmingdale, Old Bethpage, Plainedge, Plainview, South Farmingdale, and part of Melville, is known as the Bethpage Purchase and is approximately 3.5 miles (5.6 km) east to west and 5 miles (8.0 km) north to south.

Powell called his land Bethphage, because it was situated between two other places on Long Island, Jericho and Jerusalem, just as the biblical town of Bethphage (meaning “house of figs”) was situated between Jericho and Jerusalem. Today, the Long Island place formerly called Jerusalem is known as Wantagh and Island Trees, while the placename Jericho is unaltered. Over time, Bethpage was spelled without the second “H”. Powell’s 14 children split up his purchase and it evolved into several farming communities, and the one in this mostly central part of the purchase retained the name “Bethpage”.

A railroad spur completed in 1873, known as the Bethpage Branch of the Central Railroad of Long Island, ran to a brickworks plant which had opened on what is now Battle Row and Bethpage-Sweet Hollow Road in the 1860s. The railway was built to transport bricks for the construction of Alexander Stewart’s Garden City. For a few years, regularly scheduled passenger traffic also appeared in timetables, with the station being called Bethpage. The line was abandoned in 1942. Remnants of a locomotive turntable can be found in the woods of Bethpage State Park on the east side of Round Swamp Road. The brickyard continued operations under different owners until 1981, with different sections known variously as Bethpage Brickworks, Queens County Brick Manufacturing Company, Post Brick Company, and (after Nassau County split from Queens County in 1899) Nassau Brick Company. The pitted terrain at the brickworks was used in investigations by Grumman for digital mapping of Earth.

FAQ

The cost of a display aquarium varies depending on the material you choose, the size and shape of the tank, and more. A wide range of costs is about $750 to $7000. Costs increase with the size and height of the tank.

The best tanks are always large rectangular ones. Fish will live longer and healthier lives if they have plenty of water to swim in.

The cost of manufacturing and transporting acrylic is less than that of glass. However, a glass aquarium is still cheaper than an acrylic aquarium. The most popular aquariums are made of glass.

Most fish require room to move laterally (side-to-side), which is highly restricted by tall, narrow tanks. A tall aquarium leaves very little open space when plants and other decorations are added. Therefore, longer tanks are much better than taller tanks.
