To ensure the best possible results, however, making sure that you hire the right company is imperative. In order to do that, you should interview a few different candidates.
The following are some suggested questions to ask when you’re interviewing prospective Hempstead, NY custom aquarium services.
Are you experienced with aquariums?
The answer to this question might seem obvious; however, it’s surprising how many home designers advertise that they are aquarium designers, but in reality, they have little – if any – experience. For the best results, you want to hire a professional that specializes in aquarium design. A reputable Hempstead, NY custom aquarium contractor will have years of experience designing, building, installing, and maintaining aquatic displays. They will have the knowledge, skill, and experience that’s required to handle the intricate complexities that not only go into designing, but constructing, installing, and maintaining a custom aquarium.
When you’re researching companies that specialize in the design, installation, and maintenance of custom aquariums in Hempstead, NY, make sure that Fluid Dynamics International is on your list of candidates. We have more than 70 years of combined experience and we’re regarded as the industry experts in Nassau County. Our team of experts would be honored to create a one-of-a-kind marine habitat for your home or business. Call 631-208-5302 to start discussing your plans today!
What kind of equipment do you use?
It’s also important to find out what type of equipment each company uses. When it comes to storing a tank that holds thousands of gallons of water and delicate aquatic life in your Nassau County home or office, you definitely don’t want to make the mistake of hiring someone who uses cheap, poorly-constructed materials; otherwise, you could end up in serious trouble. The tank could crack or the seams could split, which could result in a leak or a complete system failure that could flood your property. The filtration system could have chronic issues, such as poor water quality, severe algae growth, and worst of all, the health of the flora and fauna could suffer. For beautiful, worry-free, long-lasting results, you want to hire a reputable Hempstead, NY custom aquarium service that will use state-of-the-art equipment and durable materials in the construction and installation of your tank.
Do you have a portfolio of aquariums you have designed and installed?
It’s also a good idea to ask each candidate if they can provide a portfolio of projects they have completed. By seeing visual images of the aquatic displays they’ve created, you’ll be able to gauge the quality of their work and whether or not they have designed and installed systems that are similar to the display that you’re envisioning for your Nassau County home or business. To illustrate, if you’re interested in a commercial-sized tank or you’d like something that’s really unusual, but the contractor only has experience with small- and medium-sized or standard setups, then there’s a good chance they aren’t going to be able to create the idea you have in mind. When it comes to the design and installation of a marine habitat, do you really want to leave anything to chance? A credible Hempstead, NY will provide you with a collection of either printed or digital images and/or videos of their work.
Do you have references I can contact?
Finally, you should ask each of the candidates you speak with if they can provide you with a list of references. You can tell a lot about any professional – including custom aquarium contractors – from their past clients. Don’t be afraid to reach out to a few of those references to ask some pertinent questions; for example, inquire about the quality of the contractor’s workmanship, whether or not they were satisfied with the results, and if they would recommend using the service. If any of the contractors that you speak with don’t honor your request for references, or they do but you can’t seem to get in touch with any of them, consider those red flags and cross them off your list. A reputable Hempstead, NY custom aquarium designer will be more than happy to provide a list of references that will include customers whom you can easily get in touch with.
The Town of Hempstead is one of the three towns in Nassau County in the U.S. state of New York. It occupies the southwestern part of the county, on the western half of Long Island. Twenty-two incorporated villages are completely or partially within the town. The town’s combined population was 759,757 at the 2010 census, which is the majority of the population of the county and by far the largest of any town in New York. In 2019, its combined population increased to an estimated 759,793 according to the American Community Survey.
The town was first settled around 1644 following the establishment of a treaty between English colonists, John Carman and Robert Fordham, and the Lenape Indians in 1643. Although the settlers were from the English colony of Connecticut, a patent was issued by the government of New Netherland after the settlers had purchased land from the local natives. This transaction is depicted in a mural in the Hempstead Village Hall, reproduced from a poster commemorating the 300th anniversary of Hempstead Village.
In local Dutch-language documents of the 1640s and later, the town was invariably called Heemstede, and several of Hempstead’s original 50 patentees were Dutch, suggesting that Hempstead was named after the Dutch town and/or castle Heemstede, which are near the cities of Haarlem and Amsterdam. However, the authorities possibly had Dutchified a name given by co-founder John Carman, who was born in 1606 in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, England, on land owned by his ancestors since the 13th century.
In 1664, the settlement under the new Province of New York adopted the Duke’s Laws, austere statutes that became the basis upon which the laws of many colonies were to be founded. For a time, Hempstead became known as “Old Blue”, as a result of the “Blue Laws”.Learn more about Hempstead.
The cost of a display aquarium varies depending on the material you choose, the size and shape of the tank, and more. A wide range of costs is about $750 to $7000. Costs increase with the size and height of the tank.
The best tanks are always large rectangular ones. Fish will live longer and healthier lives if they have plenty of water to swim in.
The cost of manufacturing and transporting acrylic is less than that of glass. However, a glass aquarium is still cheaper than an acrylic aquarium. The most popular aquariums are made of glass.
Most fish require room to move laterally (side-to-side), which is highly restricted by tall, narrow tanks. A tall aquarium leaves very little open space when plants and other decorations are added. Therefore, longer tanks are much better than taller tanks.
