Make a Checklist
Before purchasing your fish and making the trip to an aquarium store in Nassau County, you should make a checklist of everything you may need. You can surprisingly save money when you have a list of everything you require.
When you first buy a new pet, you may want to go overboard and buy everything you think looks cute. However, you and your fish may not need everything you want to buy. Before entering an aquarium shop, consider what you need and what you can skip for now.
Below, we’ll discuss some of the necessities you need to buy from a Atlantic Beach, NY aquarium store.
The most important thing you need to buy for your new fish is an aquarium. You can’t let your fish wander around your house or apartment the way a cat or dog can. For these pets, they need their own home. An aquarium is a perfect home for them.
However, not all aquariums are the same. You have probably gone to an aquarium shop in Nassau County and have seen those little bowls that look perfect for a child’s fish. Are those tanks good for your newest friend? While they are inexpensive, they won’t work.
You don’t like having a cramped space, and neither will your fish. Shorter, longer tanks are best for fish. How large of a tank you need will depend on a few factors: how many fish you purchase and how large the fish are. Once you know these factors, you can buy the perfect tank.
Where do you plan on putting your fish? Maybe you have the perfect empty spot on your bedroom wall that you think the fish will fit perfectly in. However, you can’t put the aquarium on the ground. You need a stand for your fish tank.
Ensure you choose one that will hold your tank. After all, aquariums are heavy, especially when full of water. Choose a sturdy stand that can hold your fish safely.
No one wants to live their life in the dark, and your fish is the same. LED lights are perfect for fish and your budget, as they cost less money to run. When you need a light for your fish tank, go to a Nassau County aquarium store.
The water your fish swims in will need changing, and a filtration system can clean the water so that you can clean it less often. Having a good filtration system is essential to keeping your fish happy and healthy. The size of the filter you choose will depend on the aquarium’s size.
Imagine heading home after a long day at work. You want your home to be at the perfect temperature. Certain fish need water at a specific temperature to thrive, so consider purchasing a thermometer. They are inexpensive, and you can find them at any aquarium shop in Atlantic Beach, NY.
Stock Up on Maintenance Supplies
While maintenance supplies aren’t the most exciting thing to purchase, they are essential to keeping your fish safe. Some of the most important maintenance supplies you need include a water conditioner, water test kits, a water bucket, and more.
Keeping your tank clean is essential if you want your fish to live a happy, healthy life. When you purchase a pet, you agree to take care of it and give it a good life. You can’t do that without these supplies.
Decorations for the Tank
Now is the fun part: who doesn’t love a little interior design? While buying decorations for your house may get expensive and overwhelming, decorating a fish tank is a lot more fun. You can purchase many decorations at an aquarium store in Nassau County, and you can create the perfect tank for your pet. Whether you choose a pirate theme or want your fish to look like it lives in the lap of luxury, you can buy the perfect decorations at an aquarium shop.
Finally, purchasing books is important if you have never owned or cared for a fish before. While you can read articles online, owning books can help during tank cleaning. You can find many books that tell you everything you need to know about fish care.
How To Find the Right Store
Now that you know everything you need to buy when you want to purchase a pet fish, you need to find the right aquarium store in Atlantic Beach, NY. Whether you go to a physical store or buy from an online aquarium shop in Nassau County, ensure you choose a shop that sells quality products. Look through the reviews for all the products they sell, including aquariums, so you buy the best items for your new friend.

Atlantic Beach is a village in New York. It is located off the South Shore of Long Island in the Town of Hempstead, Nassau County, New York, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, the village population was 1,891.
The first real interest in the barrier island of Atlantic Beach came in 1922 when Robert Moses, the famous highway builder and public works czar, and Chairman of the State Council of Parks, included Atlantic beach as part of his ‘State Park Plan for New York’. The blueprint, which is on file at the archives in Albany, showed a parkway from central Queens to a bridge crossing Reynolds Channel with architecturally refined facilities for thousands of beach goers; unfortunately however, cost overruns on many of Mr. Moses’ other projects at the time and other factors dampened his plans which were ultimately abandoned.
In 1923, the village’s first developer, Atlantic Beach Associates led by Stephen P. Pettit, a former Nassau County Sheriff and banker from Freeport, had dreams of creating a place that would rival the City of Long Beach, which was created by a Politician and amusement park operator named William H. Reynolds. He died just after buying land for 3,500 lots in Atlantic Beach.
In 1926, real estate tycoon William Austin, who graduated from Yale University with his associate, Charles N. Talbot Jr, formed Island Park Associates which purchased the land for $4,000,000. William Austin was married to Actress Josephine Sanders, better known as Irene Delroy; the wedding was officiated by Mayor James J. Walker on July 15, 1931. Austin and Talbot completed Pettit’s preliminary dredging and. shoring work, and proceeded to subdivide the property. They installed gas and electricity lines, and a sanitary sewer system was installed in 1927. They began selling land and building homes; the first 45 of the 150 homes they planned on building were financed using a mortgage from The Title Guarantee and Trust Company. The. homes were all designed with seven rooms, two baths, private detached garages on 48′ x 88′ lots and were built in a wide array of styles. Mr. Austin finished Petitt’s plan to build a bridge between Far Rockaway and Atlantic beach, which was opened and dedicated on June 29, 1927. A boardwalk was planned for the entire ocean side but, as constructed, it was about a mile long, stretching from west of The Plaza and extending beyond Vernon Avenue, and double the width of the boardwalk which exists today.
