3 Unique Aquarium Design Ideas for Your East Northport, NY Home
Did you know that nearly 15 million American households own fish? It’s true! Given the fact that aquarium design is a fun and interesting way to add visual interest to a home, combined with the therapeutic benefits (they’re calming and have been found to reduce stress levels), it’s easy to see why so many people have fish tanks.
If you’ve been thinking about bringing fish into your Suffolk County home, rather than going with a run-of-the-mill, do-it-yourself pet store fish tank, if you really want to make a bold statement, consider having a professional East Northport, NY aquarium service create and install a custom aquatic habitat for you instead.
Here are some unique and amazing aquarium design ideas that a professional can create that will be sure to delight.
A Bathtub Aquarium
No, we don’t mean turning your bathtub into a fish tank (though it’s certainly possible and would be neat if you have an antique or unusual tub that you don’t intend on using); rather, by a bathtub aquarium, we mean having a tank installed near your tub. A East Northport, NY aquarium service can design and install an oversized – or even a floor-to-ceiling tank – on the wall across from your bathtub. Watching colorful aquarium fish swim around and hearing the bubbling of the tank while you’re soaking in warm water will certainly take the relaxation factor that taking a bath provides up a notch.
A Headboard Aquarium
Aquarium watching has been shown to reduce stress, lower blood pressure levels, and create a calming effect; all factors that can help you get a better night of sleep. Sure, setting up a standard fish tank in your Suffolk County bedroom would be beneficial, but imagine the effect if your headboard was the tank? A professional East Northport, NY aquarium service can install a tank in the wall above the head of your bed and fill it with vibrant fish, coral, and aquatic plants, and illuminate it with a blue, purple, or black light. Flank the tank with custom, built-in shelving, and this unique aquarium design and you’ll have a functional and beautiful piece of living furniture that will be sure to make your bedroom more inviting, and that will create a calming sleep environment.
The above are just some of the unique aquarium design ideas to consider, and at Fluid Dynamics International, our team of extraordinarily talented and thoughtful professionals can create a one-of-a-kind custom aquatic habitat that will be sure to add visual interest and that will add a sense of relaxation to your Suffolk County home. We’ll not only design and install your fish tank, but we’ll also fill it with a stunning array of aquarium fish, and because we offer fish tank maintenance services, we’ll ensure your salt water or fresh water tank continues to thrive. An Aquarium Table
Glass-top tables aren’t unusual; however, rather than a wood or metal base, make a real statement with a fish tank! With this type of aquarium design, the options are virtually limitless. Experienced and talented East Northport, NY aquarium service experts can turn fish tanks of all shapes and sizes into a table base. When topped with a thick piece of glass, you’ll have a 360-degree view of the aquarium fish, aquatic flora, and decorative elements in the tank. A coffee table, a side table, a dining table; no matter the type, the style, or how it’s used, an aquarium table will surely add visual appeal to your Suffolk County home, and will undoubtedly serve as a conversation piece.
East Northport is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Huntington in Suffolk County, New York, United States. The population was 20,217 at the 2010 census.
Soon after the establishment of a village in the Huntington area, English settlers sought to further expand their territory. On July 30, 1656, land was purchased from Chief Asharoken, head of the Matinecocks Native American tribe, part of which consisted of the land that is today known as East Northport.
Two distinct communities formed in the area now known as East Northport. The more populous settlement known as Larkfield was located on the northern side, near Vernon Valley (now part of Northport). Larkfield originally developed near the location of Genola Cemetery, just north of the modern-day junction of Larkfield Road, Vernon Valley Road, and Laurel Road. A second community located on the southern side was known as Clay Pitts, named for its vast deposits of red clay. This clay which had been used by Native Americans to form pottery was used by the Europeans to form bricks for construction. The land between Larkfield and Clay Pitts was well suited for agriculture, and the region prospered in the late 18th century as a thriving farming community by supplying produce to markets in New York City and Brooklyn.
In 1868 the Long Island Rail Road opened a station within the village of Northport. However, just a few years later the LIRR decided to move the Northport station to a new location in Larkfield to facilitate further railway extension to Port Jefferson. The new railway station located at Larkfield Road and Bellerose Avenue opened on January 13, 1873. Although the station retained the name of Northport, train conductors would refer to it as “East of Northport”, because the station was located east of the railway junction which used to direct trains north to the old station located in the village of Northport. Despite the fact that East Northport is primarily south of Northport, the area became known thereafter as East Northport. The Larkfield Post Office formally changed its name to East Northport in 1910. The East Northport, New York post office building was renamed the Jerome Anthony Ambro, Jr. Post Office Building in 1998.Learn more about East Northport.
You should perform a partial water change in your fish tank around once every two to three weeks, or more often if you have a lot of fish. If you have to change all of the water in your fish tank completely (a full water change), only do it when it is absolutely necessary.
Glass tanks typically last between 15 and 20 years if they are made of quality materials. A high-end glass tank can last more than 25 years if properly maintained.
You should vacuum your aquarium regularly, whether once a week or once every other week, as part of a good maintenance routine. Ensure that all your decor is removed before vacuuming.
You can change water as often as you like if you dechlorinate properly and keep the temperature constant. Water may be changed daily by professional fish breeders to remove excess food and promote maximum growth.
